Biden & Chu Talk About Green Jobs and Efficiency
There is so much talk about clean energy, with all the focus on wind and solar, that sometimes we forget what is really the most important aspect of our energy future: conservation and improving energy efficiency. It’s something I deal with everyday as I talk to homeowners and business people that want to get in on the solar power revolution. They often forget that efficiency is the ‘low hanging fruit’ in the energy game, and that many times we can reduce consumption by 10-20% with very simple steps.
Energy Secretary ChuVP Joe Biden talked at length about this very thing and its importance to our future. He touched on some things that he and Energy Secretary Chu are targeting stimulus dollars for:
- educating homeowners on retrofitting techniques and methods
- financing for retrofitting
- training programs and certifications for those that want to make careers out of energy rating homes
