A
solar fountain can come in many different sizes, but they all pretty
much perform the same kinds of functions. That means that if there
is something that goes wrong in a certain kind of fountain, it is
very possible that the same could happen in another.
In order to combat and remedy these potential problems, some of the
issues that people struggle with concerning their solar fountain are
listed here:
• The water has stopped flowing – Although this can be
frustrating, the truth of the matter is that this often is one of
the easiest problems to fix. Frequently the answer to this quandary
is to simply check that the pump has not become separated from the
tubing. This can occur during the times when the pump moves around
and is not flat. All that needs to be done is a simple reconnection.
If this does not remedy the problem, the solar fountain owner may
need to clean the pump to make sure that there is no dirt or other
debris that is blocking the flow of the water.
• The pump makes other-worldly noises – Because it’s
unlikely that your pump has been inhabited by some kind of out-of-this-world
creature, the next assumption should be that the water level is simply
too low. The noise comes because the tubing is sucking in air as well
as water. It’s comparable to someone drinking the last of a
soda from a cup with a straw.
• The basin overflows when the water is not turned on –
It is important to maintain a water level that is high enough in a
solar fountain, but this can sometimes be a delicate balance. Those
fountains that are over-filled are often the ones that overflow. A
good rule of thumb is that the water should not go much higher than
about three-quarters of an inch from the rim of the basin.
Most likely, the problems that are associated with owning a solar
fountain can be remedied by following the preceding advice.
