By
definition, a solar furnace does not have to be large and loud. In
fact, it can be almost any device that produces heat through the sunlight
and reflectors.
Although some are intimidated by using solar energy because solar
power is different from what they have used their whole rest of their
lives, it is actually fairly easy to use. It is even possible to build
your own furnace that runs on solar power.
Those who are interested in building a small solar furnace that can
be used on a camping trip need only to take two mirrors, angle them
toward a focus point and wait for the sunlight to intensify the heat.
The furnace is able to heat up much faster than normal because it
is not receiving heat just from the sun, but also from the two mirrors
and the focal point.
A two-mirrored solar furnace will not create a lot of heat, but should
be adequate for the use of campers and others. However, the same principle
that applies to the use of two mirrors also applies to the use of
as many mirrors as a person can use. This means that someone who decides
to use up to 10 mirrors will be much more likely to create the heat
that is needed in a much shorter time sequence.
Although some attempts have been made to introduce the use of the
solar furnace to some countries to decrease the use of other kinds
of fuel, these attempts have been met with not a lo of optimism and
not much success.
Those who attempt to build their own solar furnace should exercise
care and caution thanks to the dangers that could take place.
