Solar lights

Solar lightsIn solar lights, a diode is used to wire the solar cells directly to a battery that is found underneath the light. Although some may think the most state-of-the-art equipment must be used, the simple fact is that the battery is a standard AA battery.

Throughout the day, the battery charges up. On most days it will reach full charge. The times when this is the exception are perhaps during the cold, winter days when the sun is not out as long.

When evening comes, the light’s photoresistor turns on the LED. Approximately 45 milliamps are drawn out by the LED. That means it produces about half the light of a candle.

This means that just a couple of them will not give the average homeowner the light he wants. So, for maximum effectiveness, more lights should be purchased.

Solar cells are the main reason for the largest part of the expense incurred when purchasing solar lights.
