Just
about everyone has heard about solar power. But what are the solar
power advantages? Why go solar? Solar power systems have a great number
of advantages over traditional electrical systems. Here’s what
you should know if you are thinking of making the switch to solar.
Solar power is clean renewable energy. Fifty years ago that might
not have seemed like a big deal. But today, it’s what might
save this planet. Greenhouse gases caused by our need to fuel our
homes, cars, boats, and other items are causing global warming. Our
excessive use of energy is also depleting our sources. So we have
to find new ways to harness energy. By harnessing the sun’s
energy we can power these items but in a way that is environmentally
friendly. And since the sun isn’t going anywhere, it means years
and years of clean energy use.
Solar power is free. The energy received from the sun costs nothing.
What costs are the products needed to create a working solar power
system. Unfortunately, prices for solar items are expensive. However,
after the initial costs are incurred you’re pocketbook can take
a rest as you enjoy the benefits of free power. Since solar systems
don’t rely on electrical components, maintenance costs are minimal
and a good solar system can last for up to 30 years.
If saving money isn’t enough of a reason to go solar then how
about making money? Many states offer tax breaks and incentives for
making the switch to solar powered homes. And if your home generates
more power then it uses then the extra power can be sold to the power
company. Solar grid tie systems automatically transfer the excess
energy back into the grid helping to power other homes. On rainy days
when you don’t have enough solar energy to power your home,
you can tap into this grid and the extra energy that you generated
on a previous day that went back to the grid will basically pay for
you to receive electricity on that rainy day.
Saving money and the environment. There’s no two better reasons
for going solar.
